Enzymatically Modified Isoquercitrin

What is Enzymatically Modified Isoquercitrin?

Enzymatically modified isoquercitrin (EMIQ) is a water-soluble quercetin oligoglucoside that is produced from rutin through a series of enzymatic transformations. EMIQ is a flavonoid that is a mixture of quercetin monoglucoside and its alpha-oligoglucosides. It is more easily absorbed by humans and has a bioavailability that is 17 times greater than quercetin and 44 times greater than rutin. EMIQ is absorbed as quercetin and metabolized like rutin.

Features of Enzymatically Modified Isoquercitrin

1. Tasteless and odorless:

EMIQ is an antioxidant for beverages that doesn't affect taste or smell.

2. High solubility:

EMIQ dissolves easily in water and gastrointestinal fluids.

3. Preserves freshness:

EMIQ prevents discoloration and flavor degradation from aging or light.

4. Safety:

The FDA has self-affirmed EMIQ as Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) after many toxicity studies.

5. Bioavailability:

EMIQ is absorbed more easily in humans and has a bioavailability that's 17 times greater than quercetin and 44 times greater than rutin.

6. Natural Origin:

Enzymatically Modified Isoquercitrin is derived from rutin, which is extracted from the flowers and buds of the Japanese pagoda tree.

Health benefits of using Enzymatically Modified Isoquercitrin Supplement

EMIQ is produced from rutin, a flavonoid glycoside found in fruits and vegetables. Quercetin, a powerful antioxidant that can prevent muscle atrophy, is absorbed in the same way as EMIQ. Quercetin has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that may help with: Reducing swelling, Killing cancer cells, Controlling blood sugar, Preventing heart disease, and Stabilizing histamine-releasing cells.

1. Antioxidant status:

A study found that EMIQ supplementation improved the antioxidant status of American football players after four months.

2. Cardiovascular Health::

Some studies suggest that EMIQ may have cardiovascular benefits by improving blood vessel function, reducing blood pressure, and lowering LDL cholesterol levels. These effects could potentially reduce the risk of heart disease.

3. Immune System Support:

Quercetin, including EMIQ, has been studied for its potential to support the immune system by modulating immune cell activity and reducing inflammation. It may help in fighting off infections and supporting overall immune function.

4. Allergy Relief:

Quercetin has been investigated for its potential to alleviate allergy symptoms by stabilizing mast cells and reducing the release of histamine. EMIQ may offer similar benefits in relieving symptoms associated with allergies, such as sneezing, itching, and nasal congestion.

5. Brain Health:

There is emerging research suggesting that EMIQ, due to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, may have neuroprotective effects. It could potentially help in protecting brain cells from damage, reducing the risk of neurodegenerative diseases, and supporting cognitive function.

6. Exercise Performance and Recovery:

Some studies have explored the potential of quercetin, including EMIQ, in enhancing exercise performance and reducing muscle fatigue. It may help in improving endurance, reducing oxidative stress during exercise, and promoting faster recovery post-exercise.

7. Skin Health:

Quercetin, when applied topically or consumed orally, may offer benefits for skin health by protecting against UV-induced damage, reducing inflammation, and promoting collagen synthesis. EMIQ supplementation could potentially contribute to healthier skin.
